Toledo Proposing Garbage Collection Rate Increases

Your garbage collection fees could go up next year if you live in Toledo. The city is looking to raise garbage collection fees as part of the 2026 budget. Most households would have fees go up from $11.50 per month to $18.50. For properties with a homestead exemption, the increase would be from $6.50 per month to $10.50. The city says the increase is needed to bring in additional revenue to cover the increasing cost of collection services. But, the fee increase would bring more services like expanded bulk trash pickup and a permanent recycling center. The proposed increases would require approval by Toledo City Council.
