Run Water Advisory for Bronson, Michigan Extended

01/28/2026

News release from the City of Bronson:

The City of Bronson has announced an extension of the official “Run Water Advisory” for all municipal water customers. Originally set to expire this week, the advisory is now in effect through Monday, Feb. 2, 2026. This proactive measure remains necessary to prevent residential and commercial water service lines from freezing during the prolonged period of extreme cold.

To ensure uninterrupted water service, City officials continue to advise customers to:

· Maintain a continuous stream of water approximately 1/4 inch in diameter (roughly the size of a pencil) from one faucet in the home or business.

· Utilize a bathtub faucet if possible, as these are less likely to be accidentally turned off.

"Taking this simple precaution can prevent the significant cost and inconvenience of frozen or burst pipes inside and outside the home," said Brandon Mersman, City Manager. "We want to ensure our residents have uninterrupted service throughout this extended cold snap."

The City recognizes that this measure results in increased water usage. Consequently, billing adjustments may be made on a case-by-case basis and will be based on the customer's previous water usage history.

This advisory is currently set to expire on Monday, Feb. 2, though the timeline remains subject to change based on updated weather forecasts.

Residents with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the City Office during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at 517-369-7334.
