LSSI Celebrates 125 Years of Service03/06/2026A longtime local service agency held its annual meeting on Thursday evening as it hits a major milestone in its history. Lutheran Social Services of Indiana is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year marking more than a century of providing services designed to help individuals and families achieve long-term economic and family stability. The nonprofit was founded in 1901 by the Rev. Philip Wambsganss of Emmaus Lutheran Church as a local response to children and families in need. LSSI President and CEO Angie Moellering says the organization has since grown into a regional human-services organization serving northeast Indiana through programs that remove barriers, build skills and connect people to community resources so families can thrive.
