FWCS to Launch Listening Tour for Grant Money

Fort Wayne Community Schools officials are saying they will soon launch a listening tour to gather community input for a $17 million grant opportunity addressing non-academic barriers students face. The potential funding stems from Indiana Lifelong Learning Projects, a nonprofit funded by Lilly Endowment Inc. that is administering the Opportunity to Learn Project. This four-year initiative seeks to help K-12 schools reduce non-academic barriers impeding academic success, such as hunger, inadequate transportation and limited access to before- and after-school programs.
