$43.5 Million Federal Grant to Help Improvements for Toledo's Swing Bridge Over Maumee River

A federal grant of more than $43.5 million will be used to make improvements to the Toledo Swing Bridge over the Maumee River. Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur says the grant will go to the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway. The project will rehabilitate and modernize the Toledo Swing Bridge to improve safety and reliability while allowing for a 143-ton railcar capacity. Work on the project is expected to start in 2028 or 2029.
