Toledo Public Schools Pausing Head Start Programs Amid Government Shutdown Fallout11/13/2025Most of Toledo Public Schools’ Head Start and Early Childhood Education programs are being paused starting December 1st as a consequence of the government shutdown. That’s because TPS did not receive its federal award money notification for December 1st, which will affect more than 1,000 students and 124 employees. Now that the shutdown is over, Superintendent Romules Durant said the programs could continue uninterrupted if funds are distributed in time. But, the district cannot cover the $10 million needed for the Head Start program in such a short time.
