Toledo Announces Opening of 2026 Snow Angels Shoveling Program Applications

TOLEDO, OH - The City of Toledo is proud to launch the 2026 Snow Angels Shoveling Program, a community-driven initiative connecting older residents and residents with disabilities to nearby volunteers who assist with snow removal on their sidewalks and driveways throughout the winter.

The program reflects the City’s commitment to safety, accessibility and neighborly support. By pairing volunteers with residents in need, Snow Angels helps ensure older residents and residents with disabilities have assistance with snow removal when they need it.

“Our city is built on neighbors helping neighbors, and the Snow Angels Program is a perfect example of that spirit,” Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz said. “I encourage residents across Toledo to get involved. Together, we can keep sidewalks safe and our community connected all winter long.”

How to Get Involved

Residents can sign up to request assistance or volunteer through the Snow Angels program. Volunteers are asked to provide their own snow removal tools and help their neighbor as soon as they are able and within 24 hours after a snow event concludes. Volunteers will be notified by email or phone when they have been matched with a neighbor in need.

Residents requesting assistance must be 60 or older or have a disability, paying for snow removal must be a financial burden, and there must be no one else in the household who can remove snow. Assistance is not guaranteed and depends on whether a Snow Angel is available nearby.

“The 2026 Snow Angels Program is about more than snow removal,” Valerie Fatica, Disability Manager, said. “It’s about building connections, looking out for one another, and creating a safer, more inclusive city. Hundreds of neighbors rely on this program each year, and we hope even more residents will step forward to help.”

The City invites residents of all ages and backgrounds to participate. Volunteer groups are also welcome.
