Science Central to Host 27th Annual Egg Drop07/07/2026News release from Science Central:FORT WAYNE, IN - Science Central and Design Collaborative Invite Community to 27th Annual Egg Drop.Science Central, in partnership with Design Collaborative, invites aspiring engineers of all ages to put their creativity to the test during the 27th Annual Egg Drop on Sunday, July 12.The annual event challenges participants to design a device to protect a raw egg from a mighty tumble off the top level of Science Central into a giant frying pan below. Using creativity, engineering, and problem-solving skills, contestants will compete to see whose contraption can keep an egg intact.There is no fee to participate, but registration is required. Pre-registration is open through July 11, with check-in beginning at noon and registration at 12:30 p.m. on event day. Registered participants are granted FREE admission to Science Central through 3 p.m. and must alert admissions upon arrival.Before the competition, participants can put the finishing touches on their creations in Science Central's Maker's Space, open from 10 a.m. to approximately noon in the Discovery Lab near admissions. The first eggs will drop at 1 p.m., with the competition continuing until all entries have been tested or until 3 p.m.Prizes will be awarded for Grand Prize, Most Creative, Most Scientific, Most Devastating Crash, and Most Devastating Crash to Survive.Spectators are welcome to watch the event free of charge, but must inform admissions of their participation. Guests who wish to explore Science Central after the competition may purchase regular museum admission at the front desk.
