MI Gov. Whitmer Declares Energy Emergency, Eases Dyed Diesel Restrictions10/15/2026A statewide energy emergency was declared this week by Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer to suspend rules for certain farm and forestry vehicles during harvest season. It’s in response to record-high diesel prices and ongoing supply chain disruptions stemming from the Iran war. The order temporarily allows vehicles with farm or wood harvester license plates to use dyed diesel fuel while operating on public roads. The order is now in effect and will end no later than December 31st. Click here to view the executive order.
