Fort Wayne City Council Approves 2027 Budget

Fort Wayne City Council on Tuesday granted final approval to a nearly $372 million city budget for 2027.  The budget's priorities include public safety, parks and recreation projects, public works investments and community development.  Last week, council members approved 23 cuts totaling $11.6 million from the budget. The largest cut was $4 million for the North River development.  The budget received unanimous preliminary approval last week but was up for a final decision Tuesday, when it was again approved unanimously. Officials say uncertainties with future tax revenue created by Senate Enrolled Act 1 tax reform made the cuts necessary.
