ACPL, AARP Partnering to Offer Free Tax Assistance01/13/2026News release from the Allen County Public Library:(FORT WAYNE, IN) – The Allen County Public Library (ACPL) is partnering with AARP Foundation Tax-Aide to offer free, in-person tax assistance and preparation for the 2026 tax season at select ACPL and community locations throughout Allen County. Free tax help will be available February 2 through April 15, 2026, provided by trained AARP Tax-Aide volunteers. Appointments are required. Community members can begin scheduling appointments by calling their local ACPL branch starting January 12, 2026. The program is open to all taxpayers, and AARP membership is not required. “Tax season can feel overwhelming, and many households benefit from trusted, in-person guidance,” said ACPL Programs and Partnerships Specialist Melissa Martinez. “Our continued partnership with AARP allows us to connect the community with free, reliable assistance in familiar neighborhood library spaces.” To help prepare in advance, participants should visit acpl.info/tax-assistance for a full list of items they will need at the appointment.
