Young woman sick from flu

My niece is hospitalized with acute respiratory distress syndrome. She was airlifted out of state from her home in southern Illinois to Vanderbilt Hospital in Tennessee. She had type A flu and quickly went downhill. Right now she has been placed on a machine to oxygenate her blood because her lungs are too congested to function. The doctors are not very optimistic at this time. The fight to breathe was damaging her heart. She is 27 years old and otherwise healthy.
