Travel Advisories, Snow Emergencies for Counties in Indiana and Ohio

01/27/2026
This weekend's winter storm has created snowy, icy, and slick conditions across the WBCL listening area. As of 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, January 27th a Level 3 snow emergency is in effect for these Ohio counties:
  • Hancock
A Level 3 snow emergency in Ohio means all municipal, township, and county roads are closed to non-emergency personnel. It is unlawful to be on the roads unless for an absolute emergency; violators may be subject to arrest. Residents are advised to contact employers regarding work attendance.

A Travel Warning in Indiana is the highest level of local travel advisory and means that travel may be restricted to emergency management workers only. The Indiana DHS says during a "warning" local travel advisory, individuals are directed to:
  • Refrain from all travel;
  • Comply with necessary emergency measures;
  • Cooperate with public officials and disaster services forces in executing emergency operations plans; and
  • Obey and comply with the lawful directions of properly identified officers.
Additional exceptions to the warning travel advisory are found in Indiana Code 10-14-2-29. Click here to visit the Indiana DHS website for the latest information about travel advisories for Indiana counties.
