Toledo Public Schools Discussing Deficit

With millions of dollars and key district services on the line, Toledo Public Schools leaders and community members met again this week as part of ongoing efforts to address a projected $68 million budget deficit. The district’s Transformation Plan Oversight Committee — made up of school board members, union leaders, administrators and community representatives — is tasked with reviewing budget‑saving options and recommending a path forward to district leadership and the Board of Education. Committee chair, Bob Vasquez, said the work has been difficult but necessary, calling the decisions facing the district, “very, very tough.”
