Toledo Preparing to Enforce Lead Ordinance04/15/2025After several years of legal challenges, the City of Toledo and Toledo-Lucas County Health Department are getting ready to enforce the city’s lead ordinance for rental property owners. The ordinance says landlords of properties with four units or less built before 1978 must have a lead-safe certificate. Rental properties in Toledo will be required to comply by census tract and in phases, with the next enforcement deadline being June 30th, and all properties being required to comply by December 31, 2026.
