Acts of Kindness in Toledo

Over the past few weeks, following our most severe winter storm since 2022, my office has been flooded with inspiring stories of Toledoans going above and beyond to help their neighbors. Heroism isn’t always found in grand gestures, but when individuals step up in everyday moments.

In South Toledo, a 78-year-old neighbor recovering from open-heart surgery reached out to honor his neighbor for keeping his driveway clear, ensuring he could safely get in and out of his home for appointments.

In West Toledo, an unknown citizen took it upon himself to clear neighborhood streets and driveways with his personal truck, simply because he could.

Jeremy Meadows, a dedicated volunteer in our Snow Angels program, committed to shoveling ten homes anywhere in the City of Toledo. When asked, he chose to focus on Point Place, an area where the need for volunteers is greatest. Mr. Meadows went above and beyond to ensure that numerous elderly and disabled residents who were signed up could safely access their vehicles during the storm. 

These stories remind us that Toledo’s strength lies in its people. On behalf of the City of Toledo, thank you to all our neighbors who show compassion and take action for one another every day. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and they inspire us all to pay it forward.
