Toledo City Council Bans Sale of Synthetic Kratom11/06/2025Selling synthetic versions of the drug kratom has been banned in Toledo following a decision by Toledo City Council. The ban, which has been spearheaded by council member Sam Melden, only applies to synthetic kratom and not its natural leaf form. Kratom is a plant native to southeast Asia that’s not approved by the FDA for consumption or medical use but is often marketed for its supposed ability to treat a variety of disorders. It’s often sold in powders, pills, gummies, and drinks and can cause several negative side effects. Click here to visit the FDA's webpage about kratom.
