Sylvania Schools Parents Voice Concerns After Recent Dog Attack; District Responds with Measures

Multiple parents at Sylvania Schools are calling for tighter security measures and improved communication after a dog attack. It resulted in a woman being injured last week at Whiteford Elementary School after the dog escaped its owner’s home. Both the district and Lucas County Canine Care & Control said the owner plans to surrender the dog to authorities. LC4 said the owner has been cited with failure to vaccinate the dog, but it’s unclear if any other actions may be taken. Meanwhile, Sylvania Schools is reviewing its safety measures and plans to temporarily adjust student drop-offs and hold indoor recess.
