State of Indiana Rejects Fort Wayne Outdoor Restroom

Indiana state officials have denied the city of Fort Wayne's request that would make way for a downtown public restroom. The city applied for a variance that would allow a Portland Loo to bypass some building codes. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security said the variance was denied because the city had not "demonstrated that public health, safety and welfare is protected." The application also failed to specifically identify the code provisions needed.
