Shelter-in-Place Alert Lifted After Nitric Acid Spill in Fort Wayne Tuesday11/19/2025A nitric acid spill at Webb Chemical in Fort Wayne led to a public safety alert being issued yesterday afternoon before being lifted. The Fort Wayne Fire Department said 350 gallons of nitric acid were spilled outside and residents within half a mile of the 700 block of Hayden Street were recommended to shelter in place. The spill caused a vapor cloud that could’ve led to respiratory issues. Authorities and hazmat crews were cleaning up the spill. Webb Chemical said no one was injured.
