Severe Storms, Tornadoes Leave Destruction in Illinois, Indiana; Hundreds of Thousands Without Power

At least three tornadoes have battered communities outside Chicago across parts of northern and central Illinois as well as northwest Indiana. The National Weather Service said some of the tornadoes were strong, leaving a trail of damage in Streator, Illinois, Merrillville, Indiana and Hebro, Indiana. More than 500,000 customers were without power across Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan after Thursday night’s storms.
