President Trump Signs Executive Order to Potentially Reclassify Marijuana as Less Dangerous; Indiana AG Rokita Responds

An executive order that could reclassify marijuana as a less dangerous drug has been signed by President Trump. The switch would move marijuana away from its current classification as a Schedule I drug alongside other drugs like heroin and LSD. Instead, it would be a Schedule III substance, similar to ketamine. The change won’t legalize recreational use nationwide but may alter regulation and taxation. In response, Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita and six other state attorneys general said the negative impacts of expanded marijuana use are worrisome, and they will evaluate the order closely.
