Ohio Teens May Get to Work Later11/12/2025Ohio teens might be allowed to work later hours soon. Gov. Mike DeWine is considering whether to sign a bill that would allow 14- and 15-year-olds to work unit 9 pm on school nights. Senate Bill 50 passed the Ohio House last week in a 62-30 vote, largely on party lines. It passed the Senate on April 9. Ohio employers must generally pay workers a minimum wage of $10.70, tied to inflation, for non-tipped workers…while they can pay 14- and 15-year-olds $7.25 per hour, which is the federal minimum wage. Some opponents of the idea say that it is just using kids as cheap labor.
