Ohio Division of Unclaimed Funds Announces System Upgrades to Improve Claims Process04/10/2025If you live in Ohio, it’ll be easier for you to get your unclaimed funds back through the Ohio Division of Unclaimed Funds’ new system that recently launched. The division is safeguarding about $4.8 billion in unclaimed funds, which come from dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, utility deposits, and others.If you want to claim your lost or forgotten money, you are now able to search for unclaimed funds, upload required documents, and track claim status without having to leave the platform. The new system also offers greater communication with claimants about the status of the claim in the event items are missing that the Division need to complete its review.The Division’s Outreach Supervisor Susie Wagner encourages finishing claim forms with the correct paperwork and documents after starting the process. All claims require a photo ID, Social Security card, a W-9 form, and proof of address, but claim forms now include a section with the required documents customized to your claim.
