New Pickle Ball Art in Toledo

The popularity of pickleball has grown exponentially over the past decade.  And now a fiberglass, neon green pickleball measuring eight feet in diameter was unveiled Thursday morning on the banks of the Maumee River.  The sculpture, which was created in partnership with Metroparks Toledo, sits next door to the Toledo Pickle Co., a space where patrons can dine and play pickleball both indoors and outdoors.  Local artist Dean Davis painted the sphere as part of his initiative to bring 100 works of public art to Lucas County, worked around the fact that holes could not be cut out of the sculpture by taking a unique approach to shadow.
