New Ohio Law Recognizes March 9th as 6888 Central Postal Directory Battalion Day03/10/2026A law recently signed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine will now recognize local history annually on March 9th. That day in Ohio is now 6888 Central Postal Directory Battalion Day, which was the only all-Black women’s Army unit to be deployed overseas during World War II. The trailblazing unit was led by an Ohioan – Lieutenant Colonel Charity Adams – and was tasked with clearing a backlog of 17 million pieces of mail. Click here to read Ohio State Rep.
