New FWPD Downtown District04/16/2026Fort Wayne Police Department officials are announcing a new Downtown District. Captain Jeremy Webb says their mission is to keep downtown safe, welcoming and thriving for everyone who lives, works and visits here. Webb says this is more than just enforcement. It's about connection and problem solving as well as improving the quality of life. The new area will include about 30 officers, who will focus on visibility, accessibility and engagement. The newest FWPD post is located on Webster Street…announcements about additional outpost locations are expected soon.
