MI Gov. Whitmer Announces Summer Reading Road Trip for Pre-K through 12th Grade Students06/25/2026Kids across Michigan are invited to participate in a summer reading challenge, which kicked off yesterday. Summer Reading Road Trip is open to students in Pre-K through 12th grade and features four themed stops where students can engage in reading and writing activities for a chance to win prizes. Stops include "Start Your Engines, where students are invited to engage in activities like starting a new book, writing a short story, or listening to a podcast. Throughout eight weeks, participants will be guided through four stops total with two-week blocks to complete challenges. Future themed stops include Explore Michigan, Visit Your Local Library, and Destination: Imagination. Signing up can be done on the State of Michigan’s website.
