Marion Common Council Revokes Tax Abatement

The Marion common council revoked a 10-year tax abatement agreement with a company that was determined to have failed to hold up their end of an apartment renovation agreement.  The council initially voted to revoke the tax abatement in June, but did not vote past a second hearing to give the owners of the property a chance to speak. The housing units are used as lower income, senior living housing. Eighty-percent of residents are required to be 55 years of age and older. The households also have an annual income limit to stay at the apartments. Neither apartment complex is currently accepting new residents
