Local Non-Profit Speaks Out on Resource Center

Another Fort Wayne agency speaking out about the proposed resource center near the Rescue Mission. The United Way of Allen County board of directors supports a resource center that can better support individuals experiencing homelessness but stopped short of advocating for any particular location.  The organization said homelessness and housing instability "remain among the most pressing challenges facing our community. These issues impact individuals and families directly experiencing hardship, while also affecting the overall health, stability, and well-being of Allen County as a whole." The city council may act on the funding request at its Aug. 11 meeting, though some have encouraged exploring other locations in response to concerns that have surfaced at public meetings and in other forums.
