Lenawee Co. Sheriff's Office Warns of Impersonation Scam

Be aware of fraudulent activity that involves impersonation of the Lenawee County, Michigan Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff's Office says a caller will identify themselves as a deputy, sergeant, or lieutenant and claim a person has missed jury duty, failed to appear for court, or has a warrant. The scammer will then pressure the person for payment. The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office says if you receive a call like this:

    • Hang up immediately.
    • DO NOT provide personal or financial information.
    • DO NOT send money or make any type of payment.
    • If you are unsure whether the call is legitimate, contact the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office directly using the non-emergency number or call your local law enforcement agency to verify the information.
