Indianapolis Suburbs Carmel, Fishers Take Top Two Spots for Best Places to Live

Two central Indiana cities have been ranked as the top two Best Places to Live in 2026 and 2027 by U.S. News and World Report. Carmel and Fishers just outside of Indianapolis ranked number one and two, respectively, out of 250 cities. It marks the first time in the ranking’s history that two neighboring suburbs secured the top spots. Carmel and Fishers were noted for their high scores in affordability, desirability, job market, and quality of life.
