Indiana Republicans could win 2 more US House seats under a new proposed map

12/02/2025
(Associated Press) - Republicans in Indiana's House of Representatives have introduced a new congressional map that could net the GOP two more U.S. House seats, sweeping all nine of the state's seats. Monday's map proposal increases pressure on their Senate colleagues to get on board with redistricting. Amid pressure from the White House and a spree of threats made against state senators, the state Senate reversed course and said lawmakers will gather early for the 2026 session to address redistricting. The chamber initially rebuked the Republican governor's special session order. The redistricting issue has sharply divided state Republicans, as some want to redraw the state’s congressional districts at the behest of President Donald Trump.
