Indiana Reading Skills Improving

Indiana reading skills continue to improve. Third grade literacy rates climbed statewide for the fifth straight year to nearly 89% - a level most northeast Indiana public and private schools cleared. The Fort Wayne Community Schools district was among the dozen area districts that trailed the state average, but Superintendent Mark Daniel said he couldn't be prouder of the school system's improvement to 85.3% on the Indiana Reading Evaluation and Determination assessment.  FWCS' overall score on the third-grade literacy test was about 3 percentage points better than last year.
