Indiana Bills to Restrict Cell Phones in Schools12/12/2025Two bills introduced in the Indiana House and Senate propose requirements for schools across the state to implement policies that restrict cell phone use in class and other wireless devices. Senate Bill 78 and House Bill 1034 require school corporations and charter schools to create policies around having a wireless communication device, and mandate that schools choose between no devices or secure storage. The bills also require devices used for educational purposes to be led by teachers to be school-supplied devices. If approved, there would be exceptions for students’ individualized education program or managing medical conditions.
