Indiana 211 Launches Disaster Texting Service to Assist with Flood Recovery Efforts

A new storm recovery texting service has been announced by Indiana Governor Mike Braun to connect impacted Hoosiers with disaster resources. Through Indiana 211, you can now text IN211HELP to 898-211 to get started. It’s a 24/7 service that will prompt you to select the type of assistance you need and a list of resources based on your ZIP code. See the steps below for using the Indiana 211 Disaster Texting Service*:

  1. Text IN211HELP to 898-211 and follow the prompts.
  2. You will be prompted to enter your zip code.
  3. Reply with the type of disaster resources you are seeking from the provided menu. An additional prompt with sub-resource categories may be provided.
  4. Once all prompts have been answered, Indiana 211 will text each resource available in your zip code, based on the need category you selected, directly to you.
  5. For more resources, you can text IN211HELP again to start over.
