IDEM Approves Googles Generator Request04/14/2026Google's permit request for 140 more diesel backup generators at the Fort Wayne data center has been approved by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. Added to the 34 such emergency generators originally approved by state regulators, the total comes to 174 approved for Google's local campus. Each of those generators is attached to a diesel fuel tank with 6,000-gallon capacity. The permit approval for 140 additional emergency diesel generators is effective immediately - unless an appeal is filed and accepted.
