FWPD Working to Reduce Unsafe Driving05/07/2025Fort Wayne law enforcement officials are working to reduce unsafe driving within the city. Fort Wayne Police Chief Scott Caudill brought back the department’s traffic unit. In his report to the city council, Caudill says that officers have issued more than 8,000 tickets in the past eight months. Among those tickets were 139 citations for school bus stop violations and 494 for motorists exceeding school zone speed limits. Caudill says this effort is all about increasing safe driving. The traffic unit was disbanded about 30 years ago due to budget constraints.
