Fort Wayne Zoo to Welcome Penny the Ostrich Back to Her Habitat Following Amputation

The Fort Wayne Zoo announced that Penny the Ostrich will return to her habitat this week after a successful surgery and period of recovery. It comes after Penny attempted to swallow a plastic cup that blew into her African Veldt habitat in July, irreparably injuring her wing. The zoo says you will notice that Penny has a nub where her wing used to be, there are fewer and shorter feathers that will grow back, and she has a mark that will heal over time.
