Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker, Allen Co. Commissioners Support Casino; Residents Express Concerns About Gambling

After two bills in Indiana were introduced to bring a casino to Allen County, the Allen County Commissioners and Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker have spoken in favor of a potential casino. The commissioners and Mayor Tucker showed support for a casino in a joint letter to the Indiana General Assembly as well as testimony before a committee by Mayor Tucker. On the other hand, a casino faces public concerns about gambling and other issues, particularly from the group Coalition for a Better Allen County, which has emphasized potential social impacts. Bringing a casino to Allen County will ultimately require the Indiana General Assembly’s approval.
