Fort Wayne Gets New Market Tax Credits

Fort Wayne will receive $50 million in New Markets Tax Credits allocation authority from the federal government, city officials announced today. The city will sell the tax credits to investors, which is expected to generate about $10 million in cash for projects, a news release said. The New Markets Tax Credit Program through the U.S. Treasury Department is intended to promote economic growth, and the cash generated is typically used in low-income communities.
