Fort Wayne City Council to Discuss Low Barrier Shelter Tonight

Fort Wayne city council members will be taking up the topic of funding for a low barrier shelter tonight. Mayor Sharon Tucker has said she wants to renovate a building at 333 E. Washington Blvd. into a homeless resource center. The city would own the center, and Anchor Resource Center, a new nonprofit, would operate it. Many people have criticized the location because of the effect the increased traffic of unhoused people could have on nearby businesses and organizations.  There is no indication yet if a vote will be taken at the meeting.
