Election Day Information for Nov. 4

Election Day is on Tuesday, November 4th and there will be several municipal government races and ballot measures at the local level depending on where you live. Key elections in our area will include races for Mayor of Toledo and Toledo City Council At Large. There will also be a special election in Allen County, Indiana if you live within the Northwest Allen County Schools district for NACS’ proposed operating referendum.

Candidates for Mayor of Toledo include:
  • Incumbent Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz
  • Roberto Torres
Candidates for Toledo City Council At Large include:

  •      Tom Waniewski
  •      Cerssandra McPherson (incumbent)
  •      Brittany Jones (incumbent)
  •      George Sarantou (incumbent)
  •      Edwin J. Beczynski
  •      Mac Driscoll (incumbent)
  •      Erin Kramer
  •      Nick Komives (incumbent)
  •      Tom Names 
  •      Rob Pasker
  •      Blair Johnson
The top six candidates with the most votes will be the councilmembers. Votes for Carrie Hartman will not be counted since she resigned from Toledo City Council on October 17th. 

 

Allen County, Indiana Special Election:
 
Voters who live in the NACS district will vote on the following question:
 
"Shall Northwest Allen County Schools increase property taxes paid to the School Corporation for no more than eight (8) years for the purpose of funding educational instructions and staffing at a Career and Technical Education facility; retention and attraction of teachers, support staff, and administrators; school safety and well-being staffing and initiatives; instructional support staffing at all buildings; and district-wide staffing, by imposing a property tax rate that does not exceed $0.2787 and results in a maximum annual amount that does not exceed $12,156,914? If this operating referendum public question is approved by the voters, for a median residence of $350,000, the property's annual property tax bill would increase by $505 per year."
