Crypto Scams on the Rise

Cryptocurrency scams are a growing concern as technology evolves, and the Fort Wayne Police Department is raising awareness about it through a public service announcement. The FWPD said that as technology evolves, so do the methods criminals use to deceive victims. Cryptocurrency scams can make it nearly impossible to trace or recover money, with scammers using high-pressure tactics like impersonating government, law enforcement, and building trust. The FWPD said red flags to watch for are people withdrawing large amounts of money and going to a crypto kiosk, multiple transactions, and anyone demanding payment only through cryptocurrency.
