Concordia H.S. Installs Comfort Dog Jared (PHOTO)09/17/2019 He’s a special dog with a special mission. Golden retriever Jared will be officially installed as a Comfort Dog during Concordia High School chapel services Wednesday morning. Jared works as a comfort dog with students at Concordia as well as at nearby Holy Cross Lutheran Church and School. But Concordia faculty member Pamela Rusher, one of Jarad’s handlers, says Jarad’s mission field includes the entire community, including nursing homes, hospitals, and schools. Rusher says Jared was even deployed to Dayton, Ohio following that horrendous mass shooting in August where he spent hours comforting first responders and others. Churches, schools, nursing homes and individuals are encouraged to invite Jared for a comforting visit. For more information, contact Holy Cross Lutheran Church and School, 483-3173.
