Bowling Green Electric Customers Can Receive Up to $100 for Old Appliances

BOWLING GREEN— Bowling Green Municipal Utilities electric customers have two opportunities to earn cash while responsibly recycling old, inefficient appliances through a limited-time Efficiency Smart promotion. Customers can receive $75 by scheduling a free appliance pickup between July 1 and September 30 or earn $100 by participating in a special appliance drop-off event on Saturday, September 26.

Two easy ways to recycle your old appliance:

· You Come to Us:

o Bring a working dehumidifier, window air conditioner, or mini fridge to the drop-off event on Saturday, September 26, and get $100 per unit responsibly recycled.

o Note: Please bring a recent copy of your electric bill to participate in the program and receive an incentive. Everyone who pre-registers will also be entered into a drawing to win an energy efficiency kit (see sign-up details below).

o Drop Off Event Details: Saturday, September 26, 9:30 a.m. - noon, at the parking lot outside the Bowling Green Public Works Garage. Please use the entrance at 1040 N. College Dr. to enter. Signs will be set up to direct customers to the correct parking lot.

· Efficiency Smart Comes to You:

o Schedule a free pick-up for your working refrigerator, freezer, dehumidifier, or window air conditioner between July 1 and September 30, and get $75 per unit responsibly recycled.

Participants must be a Bowling Green Municipal Utilities electric customer to be eligible. Limit of four units recycled per household, per year. All refrigerators and freezers must be empty and free of food residue. Units that are moldy, infested with bugs, or not empty will not be picked up.
