Better Business Bureau Mitigating Identity Theft Through 2025 Shred Day04/07/2025Helping protect yourself from identity theft is the goal of the Better Business Bureau Serving Northern Indiana’s 2025 Shred Day. It’s a chance to securely shred documents like old tax forms, bank statements, paystubs, credit card offers, and more. BBB Serving Northern Indiana President and CEO Jan Diaz says scammers are always looking for those documents because they can begin piecing a person's identity together. Diaz adds that the next step for scammers is getting a person's other sensitive information and stealing their identity. During the Shred Day, up to five boxes of paper items per car can be brought for disposal. Diaz says other items like binders, cardboard, plastics, X-rays, and electronics are not accepted. The Shred Day is on April 26th from 9 to noon in the parking lot of the Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne. There’s a suggested donation of $10 that supports the BBB’s Charitable and Educational Foundation. Click here for complete details of the 2025 Shred Day.
