School Accountant05/06/2025Central Christian School is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Part-Time Accountant to manage the school’s daily financial operations and provide accurate, timely reporting to support both leadership and the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate is organized, trustworthy, and experienced in nonprofit or small business accounting. This role is central to maintaining financial transparency and helping the school deliver on its mission.Key Responsibilities:Payroll & Compensation:Process bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees; manage contractor payments (e.g., substitute teachers); ensure accuracy in employee retirement contributions and make necessary financial adjustments in accordance with benefit plans.Accounts Payable & Receivable:Enter, code, and process vendor bills and check payments; create and distribute tuition and enrollment invoices; track incoming tuition payments and follow up with families regarding any outstanding balances.Cash Handling & Deposits:Prepare, record, and enter all cash and check deposits; ensure proper categorization and timely entry into the accounting system.Scholarship & Program Support:Submit applications for the Indiana Choice Scholarship Program for eligible students/families; maintain compliance with program requirements and timelines.Event Financial Management:Collaborate with event staff to track all income and expenses related to major fundraising events (e.g., annual Fish Fry & Auction); compile and report complete financial results post-event.Financial Reporting & Board Support:Reconcile monthly bank accounts; compile and submit financial statements for review by school leadership and the Board of Directors; assist with budget tracking and forecasting.General Ledger & Adjustments:Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries and end-of-month adjustments; ensure accurate presentation of retirement accounts and other benefits-related items on financial reports.Qualifications:Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial administration (experience in school or nonprofit settings preferred)Strong proficiency with QuickBooks (or similar software), Excel, and email communication toolsAbility to manage financial data with accuracy and confidentialityExcellent organizational and communication skillsFamiliarity with the Indiana Choice Scholarship Program (a plus, but not required)Comfortable working independently and coordinating with staff across departments Contact: Cindy Grile Phone: 2604930193 e-mail: office@ccsfw.org
