In French, Plein air painting means painting “in the open air.” This style sets out to convey the atmosphere and natural experience of the subject. In adherence to this approach, artists seek to capture the true essence of a given landscape, emphasizing color, light, and movement. This group exhibition features pastels, oil and watercolor paintings by three nationally acclaimed plein air artists: Steve Puttrich of Arlington Heights, IL, Jill Stefani Wagner of Saline, MI, and Ray Hassard of Cincinnati, OH. Drainage This exhibition by Dannon Schroeder of Fort Wayne, IN will present a series of intricately crafted wood sculptures that both visually and conceptually address water access and sustainability, climate change, environmental awareness, and urban growth. The sculptures are created using locally found salvaged wood, reclaimed hardwoods and water based pigments topically applied to mimic synthetic materials and metallic surfaces.
