Depression: Someone You Know Needs You to Hear This 02/29/2020, 08:00 AM – 12:30 PM Mental Health and the Church: Making a Difference in the Life of Family Members, Friends or Parishioners with Mental Illness"DEPRESSION: Someone You Know Needs to Have you Hear This" will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church at 2955 E 700 S in Wolcottville, IN on February 29 from 8:00am - 12:30pm. Depression can be devastating in one’s life, even among the faithful. This two-part conversation will explore some of the common features and causes of depression. Participants will be invited to examine their own well-being and will also be given tools to talk with others who may be struggling. Session will familiarize participants with the signs and symptoms that invite helpful referral. The session will explore ways to serve and care for those who are depressed, including a review of guidelines regarding how to make caring and effective referrals.Dr. Beverly Yahnke is a clinical psychologist serving DOXOLOGY as the Executive Director for Christian Counsel. From 2010-2015, she served as the Chair and Professor of Psychology at Concordia Wisconsin. Previously, Dr. Yahnke spent over 25 years in private practice serving church workers and their families in the clinical group she founded in Milwaukee. Dr. Yahnke is a frequently invited speaker for clergy and educator conferences. In May 2016, Concordia Theological Seminary awarded her with the Doctor of Humane Letters Degree, Honoris Causa.
